WELCOME TO THE CANADIAN
A Geopark is an area recognized by the Global Geopark Network to have exceptional geological heritage. This simply means that the area has a natural landscape that is good for education, has a significant scientific value, is particularly rare or it is simply beautiful to look at ...
As North America’s first Global Geopark, Stonehammer Geopark is about geology, but it is also about people, society and culture. Located in Southern New Brunswick on the East Coast of Canada we have a billion years of the Earth's history to share.
CANADIAN GEOPARKS NETWORK
The Canadian Geoparks Network (CGN) is a national committee that was formed in 2009 under the auspices of the Canadian Federation of Earth Sciences (CFES) to address the need for coordination of Global Geopark applications from Canada.
HOW TO BECOME A GEOPARK?
If your community is interested in pursuing geopark designation please contact Sarah Gamble, Chair of the CGN and/or one of the 5 geoparks in Canada. Reaching out will provide you an opportunity to review this process and have a good understanding of the deliverables.
